My journey to weddings

Let’s start at the beginning of my journey. In the beginning, way back in 2015, I really had never held a DSLR. I had seen them, even learned a bit about them. But nothing had prepared me for the world that was laid out before me.

Picking up a camera was literally a means to an end. I wanted to capture the journey of my son and all the moments he will be experiencing. So when I fell in love with creating beautiful images, it was a surprise to everyone!

So, how does that tie into weddings? Well, people around me saw my affinity for taking photos, and some of the portraiture work I had done, and asked me to photograph their wedding. And it was awesome! I fell passionately in love with the energy and feel of weddings. Weddings were just what I wanted.

Sadly, my photos at the time left a bit to be desired. And I knew it. So I spent the next year dedicated to learning everything I could about photographing weddings. From posing, to lighting, to composition, and so much more, it seemed like the more I dug, the more I realized there is so much more to this than just pointing a camera at something and clicking away.

Did I let that stop me? Nope. I can say after 102 weddings, just counted, that I found something that I honestly and truly love doing. I found that thing that makes me get up early for, stay up late, and just drives me! So here I am 9 years later, still going strong. Even more on fire for it! So expect so many more blogs about weddings in general from me. Some will be more client specific, others may be informative. But all will be on fire for weddings!
